Labour Day is…

As you know, Labour Day falls on the first Monday of September every year. Labour Day can mean a lot of different things to people. For some, it’s a day they dedicate to the working people, and the efforts they brought forth that allow us to earn a fair wage and favourable working conditions. For most, it’s a day off work, it signals the end of summer , where the days ahead hold more hints of approaching fall than of departing summer. It’s a time to soak up the last rays of summer sun and enjoy the company of friends and family.

For us, Labour Day is all of those things and more. As entrepreneurs, it’s a day for reflection, on how hard we have worked to grow our business to the point it is at. It’s a day to be thankful to all of the wonderful and talented men and women who make up and support our ever growing team of Scentsy Family Consultants.

Today we will spend time with family and friends who believed in us from the beginning and still believe in us today. We will share good times, great laughs, great food and above all we will share the company of one another. We will end the day off with fireworks, and say farewell to the summer of 2014!

Team Day!

In a recent post, I discussed the importance of team building and how to be a better leader.  Last weekend, my wife and I decided to have our first ever Team Day for our Scentsy Family Team, ‘Just Getting Warmed Up’.  We wanted to bring a sense of cohesion to the team and we wanted to ensure that we had an activity that was fun, interactive and related to team building while gaining the trust from the members of our team. One of our team members had a great suggestion!

We had to choose a partner and each of us had to have our wrists tied together with a piece of string, but your string was interlocked with your partner’s string. The object of the activity was to free yourselves without cutting or breaking the string!

I would like to report that although nobody was able to set themselves free, (not without cheating anyway), we had an awesome time.
